Dance Salsa! Level 1
We all have to start somewhere with our dancing, si? This Dance Salsa! Level 1 class focuses on a firm understanding of the fundamental "rules of engagement" of Salsa dancing.
This understanding is essential in building a solid dance foundation. You'll learn to dance the basic figures to the rhythm and timing of the music.
Whether you need a refresher or you are new to the dance, this instruction will give you the confidence to go beyond just the basics when in a social dance setting.
No partner necessary, but be prepared to lead or follow based on class balance. No drop-ins allowed after WEEK 1.
Class Dates:
Wednesdays
April 1, 2020 to April 22, 2020
6:15 - 7:15pm
Class Location:
Gateway Dance Theatre (in the East Village)
315 East 5th. St. Suite 12

About the Instructor, Alejandra Mendoza (Ale)
Alejandra’s authentic & bubbly personality fueled her passion for teaching & love of music (singing) from a young age.
The Latin Heritage Festival in DSM a couple years ago became the pivot point (Salsa pun intended) for Ale’s fervor for Latin dance. That day, Ale, Mexican American, decided to immerse herself in the art of dance. She was a student of Emeritus SDM instructor, Luisito Cabrera.
“I’m passionate about Salsa. I believe I bring a unique rhythm & individualized style to the table that is both contagious & jovial.”
Outside of dance, Ale is an Intellectual Disabilities Teacher for DMPS. “Teaching is another passion of mine. Developing positive & meaningful relationships with all students is my ultimate goal.”
Her empowered and fiery persona makes Ale a true magnetic figure in the Des Moines dance family.
